THORNDIKE POND

LOCATION: Jaffrey, NH

PROJECT TIMELINE: 2019 - 2022

SCOPE OF WORK: site planning, detail site design, planting design, installation and maintenance, project oversight, and consultant coordination

TEAM: Princess Pine LLC (landscape designer), Lindsay Johnson (landscape installation and maintenance), Sean Macy/Frost Pond Carpentry (general contractor), Dan Scully (architect), Our Town Landscaping (landscape installation), Shelley Masonry (stone mason), Fitzwilliam Granite Company (quarry)

PROJECT OVERVIEW: In coordination with a major home renovation and addition, the client wanted extensive landscape alteration and diversification while maintaining views to a nearby pond. Planting is thoughtfully used throughout the site for naturalization, stabilization, ecologic value, and privacy. Important elements of the site design include a front entry courtyard, perennial bed renovation, minimization and strategic use of lawn, enhanced privacy and a significant steep slope regrading and stabilization. A diverse planting palette creates year-round interest and wildlife habitat, and further connects the house to the surrounding woods. Integrated with naturalized woodland plantings, the front entry features an organic pattern of granite from a local quarry.
